Last week, the Intent team organised a media networking evening for our client the Lloyd’s Register Maritime Decarbonisation Hub (The Decarb Hub).

Taking place at the Cinnamon Bazaar in Covent Garden, we welcomed over 20 members of the maritime press, along with special guests from Lloyd’s Register and Lloyd’s Register Foundation, for a full evening of speeches and conversations around maritime’s decarbonisation journey.

Those present were treated to an introduction to the Decarb Hub’s purpose and goals by MD James Forsdyke, as well as an overview by Carlo Raucci of its Fuel Adoption programmes. These target the economic and policy barriers that prevent zero and near zero (ZNZ) emission fuels from reaching the market at speed and scale, and work to align ambition, investment, and infrastructure readiness across the supply and demand chains.

An update was also given by Alan Jones on the Decarb Hub’s Human Safety & Risk programmes. The programmes support a safe energy transition within maritime by focusing on people and the systems they interact with. They tackle risk and human factor considerations and, therefore, support the industry in its decarbonisation journey at the “front line”.

A big thank you for the other speeches of the evening, which were given by Lloyd’s Register Foundation’s Director of Technologies, Jan Przydatek, and Lloyd’s Register’s Chief Marketing Officer, Philippa Charlton.
