We are pleased to see our client, Capt. Pradeep Chawla, CEO of MarinePALS, featured in the March issue of Digital Ship discussing the evolution of maritime training. He highlights how modern digital tools, like VR and 360-degree cameras, are transforming learning for maritime professionals.

Capt. Chawla explains that MarinePALS utilises digital twin technology to create lifelike simulations, allowing seafarers to experience vessel environments virtually. This approach enhances the understanding of onboard operations before stepping onto a real ship. He emphasises that digital training should enhance, not replace, traditional methods and leverage technology’s interactive nature.

With younger generations entering leadership roles, attitudes towards education are changing. As digital natives, Millennials and Gen Z are driving the adoption of these technologies. Capt. Chawla predicts a significant increase in VR training adoption in the coming years as technology becomes more accessible. MarinePALS also sees a growing market for short-form content such as microlearning modules and short videos, ensuring training is engaging and digestible. This approach caters to modern learning preferences and ensures critical information is retained.

Capt. Chawla notes that the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of digital training, demonstrating the industry’s ability to adapt. He believes the future of maritime training lies in embracing these modern tools to improve safety and efficiency.
