Namrata Nadkarni took to the stage at the World Bank’s TTDC25 conference in Washington, D.C., to speak about the most pressing challenges in decarbonising transport with green fuels, moderated by the excellent Bertrand de la Borde.

Namrata shared the panel with Christoph Wolff, Sharvari Patki and Rachel White, where they discussed cross-industry insights on the future of green fuels, including progress across road, aviation, and maritime. From the delayed promise of hydrogen to the risks of locking into LNG, they broke down what’s viable now, what’s scalable later, and where policy needs to step up.

Key takeaways from the panel:

Cost is the biggest driver and barrier across all transport sectors.

Trucking is already leading in electric and battery tech, with strong ROI even in emerging markets.

Aviation is leaning on biofuels due to energy density needs.

Maritime’s future may lie in hydrogen, but current reliance skews strongly towards LNG – which is a concern.

Early, cross-sector stakeholder involvement, especially from governments, is critical for long-term planning.
